Brandon: “The Midnight Wedding is a Christian Hard Rock/Metal/Worship band that is a blend of the music that Caitlin and I both love. It’s something that came out of being a part of other bands the last few years but never finding that sound we really wanted. When Caitlin and I stepped out on our own, we decided we wanted to do what moves us and write music that really speaks to the situations in our lives and how God works through all of those moments to bring us closer to Him. The name is comprised of the verse where Jesus says the bridegroom will return for His bride at midnight and Caitlin and I’s marriage. Through all of our faults, failings, loses and wins Christ has been with us regardless and His love is never failing. It is this truth that kept Caitlin and I living in hope and it’s that hope we want to share with people.
CRX: What is YOUR NEW song "SET ME FREE" about?
Caitlin: The song title sums it up I think best. This song is about being set free from sin because of Jesus. Once we accept Him, our life is changed forever, and I hope the lyrics speak to the listeners- whether they are Christian or not- to say that there is freedom in knowing Him.
CRX: What was the main inspiration/story for the song?
Caitlin:When Josiah PRINCE (OF DISCIPLE) and I started to write this song, I went to him with some lyrics that I started knowing that I wanted it to be a worship song. As I was writing the lyrics, I was reminiscing about how much in my life Jesus has done for me. He has saved me more times than I can count, protected me in situations that I put myself in where the outcome could have been much different had He not been there, and He has washed away all of the shame and guilt of my past.
CRX: What is the message that you hope the listeners get from the lyrics?
Caitlin: This song is all about seeing the past, yet not living in it anymore. I hope that when people hear this song they come to know the redemptive nature of Jesus, so that whatever they may feel is weighing them down can finally be let go.
CRX: What was it like working with Dawn Michelle and Josiah Prince and when did the idea come up to have them on the track?
Caitlin: Having Dawn Michele provide guest vocals for this track is still hard to believe! The idea to have her featured came up between Brandon and Josiah I believe, since Josiah was also producing Fireflight’s new album at the same time.
Brandon: Fireflight was actually one of Caitlin’s first Christian rock bands she had ever listened to. As Josiah was working with them we had started discussing the possibilities of having a couple featured artists on a few songs and Dawn was one of the first that came up. “You Decide” was one of my favorites by them and I have always loved their style and her voice. There are multiple featured artists on our upcoming album, including a surprise track that features a lot of artists that many people know and love.
CRX: What is your goal as a band and artist and how has that been effected by Covid-19, if at all?
Caitlin: Brandon and I have had this conversation many times, if not weekly, about where we want to be in the future as far as our music is concerned. I think we both agree that-after all of our failed attempts through the years in pursuing different ways to get our music out- we just want to minister and see lives changed. Whatever that may mean for us, we are happy with. This doesn’t mean we will be inactive in any way, but we no longer want to chase any label. Instead, we want to follow what God wants for us- and we both fully agree that we are meant to go out and put our hands to work, and through doing that we believe we’ll be successful.
CRX: This song is the second single you have released this year. When can we expect to hear your full-length album "Anthem For The Outcast"?
Brandon: We are looking at a January release for “Anthem For The Outcast”. It’s a 15 track album so there are plenty of songs and content we hope that anyone who has ever been rejected, outcasted, feeling hopeless or lost connects with and sees Jesus through it all.
CRX: Lastly, where can people find your new single "Set Me Free"?
Brandon: It is available everywhere digital music is sold or streamed and it will be available in physical form during our live shows only in 2021. Exclusive Road Singles.
the midnight wedding's debut full-length album "anthem for the outcast" releases february 12th, 2021 to all streaming providers.
